With an innocuous upload to Strava, Glen has announced that both The Pendulum will return in 2023 plus a “mini-Pendulum” warm-up event on some tamer climbs.
Described as “pain, misery, anguish, fear, regret… all rolled into one race” by Graeme Hare, The Pendulum is a 2,500+ ft ascent and descent of Cheviot followed by a 2,000+ ft ascent and descent of Hedgehope.
Last run in May 2016 in what could best be called “wintery conditions”, The Pendulum was considered a one-off … until an agressive social media campaign by our friends over at Northern Fell Running – #bringbackthependulum – convinced Glen that it was time for the run to return.
The “mini-Pendulum”, with a TBC date probably in March 2023, will see participants “just” summit Brough Law followed by Wether Hill. The date for The Pendulum itself has not been announced yet.
